The potato peeler is believe it or not a relatively new invention. Until not too long ago, potatoes and other root vegetables were peeled by hand with a sharp knife. The potato peeler has changed cooking in many ways, because today you do not hesitate to remove the skin of potatoes, carrots or cucumbers.
