A designer and architect, Verner Panton (1926–1998) created Panthella together with Louis Poulsen as long ago as 1971, and it came to be one of his most meaningful icons of design. With its arched shade and trumpet-shaped base, the lamp's organic form radiates a soft glare-free light, giving the room a wonderful ambiance. Panton's idea was to create a lamp whose shade and base would both work as reflectors, and the result is very atmospheric lighting.
