It's perfectly fine, but it can't be adjusted sideways beyond the first joint, the nearest wall. I had expected that - for design reasons - it wouldn't be possible to move it sideways in 3/4 joints, but I assumed that the joint closest to the lamp could be adjusted on a ball joint or similar so that you can get the light where you want. Well, I got it. It's just "up and down". So if you want to have this in the middle of two places (e.g. centered over a bed or a desk with two places) and want to tilt it either right or left to alternate the light - don't buy it! Now you get the tilt so much that your face gets lit instead and you can't angle the lamp part down towards the desk without at the same time directing the light in some other direction.
