    Design with a history

An object from Vitra is never just an object – it is the result of an idea journey that began long before it finds its place in a room.

Behind every form lies a process of experimentation, refinement and carefully considered decisions that lead to a well-developed final result. Every detail holds meaning, not as individual elements but as part of a greater whole.

Once the product becomes part of your everyday life, its development continues through how it is used, experienced and interpreted.

    From inspiration to design classic

The story of Vitra begins in the 1950s, when founder Willi Fehlbaum discovered Charles and Ray Eames’ moulded plywood chairs during a trip to the United States.

This marked the starting point for a brand that has since collaborated with some of the world’s most influential designers.

The result is a collection of iconic furniture, lighting and interior objects, where classics such as the Eames Lounge Chair, Panton Chair and the playful Eames House Bird sit alongside the poetic Akari lighting collection.

Together, they reflect Vitra’s ability to combine innovation with timeless aesthetics. The range includes everything from chairs, tables and sofas to textiles and decorative objects, making it possible to create cohesive environments for homes, offices and public spaces.

    A long-term approach to quality

For Vitra, design is about more than aesthetics – it is a responsibility for the future.

The focus is on creating sustainable solutions where function, material choice and form work together to ensure longevity. Rather than following short-lived trends, the aim is an expression that endures over time, both visually and practically.

With development in Switzerland and production in Europe, high quality is ensured at every stage, allowing the furniture to be passed down through generations.
