Visiting Hanna Knutssons Country Escape

Tell us about your new summer house – how did you find it, and what made you fall for it?
My partner and I had been searching for a summer house for over three years, on and off. We looked at so many cottages – both high and low end. It was a useful process because it helped us figure out what we actually wanted (and just as much, what we didn’t want). I found this particular house through a tip from a colleague who has a place in the same area. What caught my interest immediately was the large terrace and the wooden floor inside the house – I’ve been dreaming of proper plank floors for ages!
In the end, the purchase went pretty quickly. My partner went to the viewing alone because I was in Greece at the time. He made an offer even though I hadn’t seen the place in real life – and we got it! But I knew I would love it.
How would you describe the feeling and atmosphere here on Väddö?
This place is calm and peaceful – truly idyllic. The people in the area are incredibly friendly and kind. I love all the winding little roads that lead out here – the cozy feeling starts as soon as you turn onto them.
What does it mean to you to have a place outside the city?
It gives me a sense of comfort – knowing there’s a place to go when the city noise becomes too much. I’ve really longed for that. At the same time, I don’t think I’d want to live in this kind of calm permanently – I’d get too restless. But as a complement to city life, it’s perfect. Being able to go here whenever I want or need to – that suits me just right.
