Yngve Ekström
Born in tiny Hagafors in the Småland region of Sweden, Yngve Ekström started working at the oldest furniture factory in the country at the early age of 13. This provided him with exceptional carpentry skills honed by daily practice. Over his life, Yngve crafted many beautiful pieces of furniture, but he is most famous for the Lamino armchair. Like Ekström himself said: “Having made a good chair might not be too bad for a life’s work.” In 1945 Yngve and his brother Jerker Ekström founded the Swedese furniture company, now a famous manufacturer that makes sure Lamino is available all over the world.
