The history of the rag rug

The rag rug has not existed as long as one might think. The use of rugs in general only emerged in the 1870s. It was then that living standards were high enough for people to begin decorating their homes with wall décor and rugs on the floors. Rugs were made from leftover fabric pieces woven together into beautiful rugs. Today, rag rugs come in countless colours and shapes.

Care of your rag rug

Since rag rugs are often made from cotton fabrics, they are very practical. Cotton is an extremely easy-care material. Rag rugs are easy to clean with warm water and mild detergent. Many modern rag rugs can even be machine washed. This makes rag rugs and other cotton rugs suitable for all homes, regardless of the age of family members.
